Jungle & Reptile Experience

This new interactive animal exhibit will be housed in a whimsical garden environment full of lush tropical plants. The jungle adventure will feature a variety of birds, amphibians and reptiles, including colonies of alligators and large tortoises. Fairgoers will be able to see and touch these wonderous creatures up close and personal in a family-friendly and educational environment. Located in the Floriculture tent.

2010 Brewfest
California Forest Center

This living exhibit offers year-round opportunities to learn about responsible use of natural resources. Established in 1972 with sponsorship from the California Forest Products Commission, the California Forest Center is a well-known stop for fairgoers to receive FREE tree seedlings. With numerous shady trees, the California Forest Center is literally one of the "coolest" spots to be at the State Fair.

Camp Smokey
Presented by the Interagency Fire Prevention Education Program and the California State Fair

Camp Smokey is dedicated to educating the public through fun activities on issues such as outdoor fire prevention, fire safety and conservation education. There is a "Golden Passport to Fire Prevention" activity, which children 12 and under can complete by performing fire prevention and conservation tasks, answering questions and playing games. After successfully completing these tasks, each child receives a stamp in their Golden Passport and may also receive a Smokey the Bear award. Smokey the Bear, Sparky the Dog and Woodsy Owl will be some of the loveable characters on site for pictures and autographs.

Equine Events

The Cavalcade of Horses presents a wide variety of equine events for the patrons throughout the Fair. Starting with the 4:00 pm segment highlighting Dianne Olds Rossi and the Magical Dancing Horses and the Nu Balance Vaulters, the next segments feature Thoroughbred horses demonstrating their second careers after their racing days are through, the Pony Express Association celebrating their 150th anniversary, local trainers performing their particular disciples, the Carousel of Breeds, and ending at the 8:00 pm segment, "The Mane Event" showcasing again the Magical Dancing Horses, drill teams, Crown Capall, and the Nu Balance Vaulters. The Country Fair Best of Show Horse Show is on July 20-22, the Versatility Ranch Horse Class on July 24, and the Ranch Rodeo on July 25. The evening performance on Cattlemen's Day, July 25, is the ever popular Flying U Rodeo’s Bull Fest.

With names like Thunder Rain, Silver Willow Peacock, Crackling Bouquets, and Blooming Flower at Dawn, fireworks at this year's California State Fair will draw more "oohs" and "ahhs" than ever! This nightly extravaganza of blazing color and sound begins at 10 p.m. every night in the Miller Lite Grandstand.

Magnificent Midway

The California State Fair comes alive under the lights of the Magnificent Midway, where fairgoers of all ages will find their favorite rides for BIG FUN under the sun-or-moon. There are 64 rides to choose from with traditional family entertainment like the Merry-Go-Round, kid rides such as Looney Tooter Train and of course, hair-raising thrillers whose names evoke shrieks of delight like the Super Shot Drop Tower. Plus, four amusement rides originally from Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch! Games You'll find more than just carnival rides in the Midway. Butler Amusements features 45 games of skill as well. Operation Postcard

The California State Fair invites fairgoers to show support and honor for deployed service persons in hardship areas with "Operation Postcard." Fairgoers can write personal messages on large vinyl postcards that will be sent out to the different branches currently serving.

9/11 Memorial

The 9/11 Memorial Plaza is a respectful tribute to the victims of the Sept. 11 attacks. The tribute features a steel beam from the World Trade Center and a 5,000 pound granite ball inscribed with the names of the fallen. Renovated in 2008, the Memorial was expanded to include monuments for Washington & Pennsylvania. Located near Expo Center #2.
