Nestled in a beautiful setting under the shade of trees and canopies with a landscape of grapes, flowers, and native plants, visitors to the State Fair Wine Garden will find a serene but engaging atmosphere complete with generous seating, authentic wine barrels and a spacious tasting bar.
The Save Mart Supermarkets Wine Country at the State Fair Wine Garden features many of the award winning wines from the
California State Wine Competition. Visitors to the Wine Garden will also have the opportunity to purchase souvenir glasses, the official California Wine Magazine, wine related novelties and a great variety of cheeses, fruit, bread and other delicacies to compliment your favorite varietals.
The California State Fair Commercial Wine Competition is the oldest and most prestigious judged wine competition in the nation. With more than 2,500 entries from more than 600 wineries, the competition is so large it takes place prior to the fair. This year, the competition was held June 6-8. During the State Fair, fair-goers have plenty of opportunity to taste the award winning wines at the Save Mart Supermarkets Wine Country and at California’s Grape & Gourmet event. Commercial Craft Brew
Open to licensed California brewers selling on a retail level and wishing to compete in several different categories as specified by the Beer Judge Certification Program Style Guidelines.
Home Brew
This competition is open to brewers producing beer for non-commercial use. The goal of this competition is to improve the art and science of home brewing amongst California residents.
California’s Grape & Gourmet (event)
The California State Fair is committed to promoting California wines by recognizing California’s top wines and wineries. Established in 1855, the California State Fair Wine Competition is the oldest and most prestigious Wine Competition in North America.
Friends of the California State Fair Brewer’s Festival (event)
Attention beer fans—taste the best brews in the State! Purchase a $20 wristband and you will be entitled to 10-5oz. samples of award winning brews from the State Fair’s Craft Brew Competition. All guests to the Brewer’s Festival will receive a souvenir mug. $5 Designated Driver tickets available at the door. Tickets to Brewer’s Festival do not include State Fair admission.
