Kid’s Horse Play Area

Look for this new interactive area where kids can horse around on a  wooden horse for a picture, groom a wooden horse with a real horse tail, watch horse movies, play horse video games and pet miniature horses!

 

Dianne Olds Rossi’s Magical World of Dancing Horses – 8 p.m. daily.

The California State Fair is honored to present this world renowned celebrity and her beautifully choreographed dancing Friesians.  Followed by The Main Event, which includes

Magical World of Dancing Horses, drill teams, Crown Capal/Equine Entertainment, Nu Balance Vaulters, and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Posse Military Salute.

 

My First Ride – Never been on a horse before? Now young cowboys and cowgirls can saddle up for a riding lesson around the arena. Rides will be given at 12 noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. on July 15, 17, 24, 27 and 28. At 3 p.m. every day, kids can participate in stick-horse games and pony painting.

 

Horse Behavior Revealed – 1 and 3 p.m. Fridays-Sundays (and occasional additional presentations at 6 p.m.) Presented by Alliance for Horses, a consortium of horse trainers talk with horse-lovers about efforts to mold unwanted equines into reliable citizens and valued members of the equestrian community through public education and exhibitions.

 

National Day of the Cowboy and Cowgirl – 7 p.m. July 28

Come celebrate the first National Day of the Cowboy and Cowgirl Celebration with programs by Curt Pate, national horsemanship and stockmanship clinician, along with stock dog demonstrations, California Cowgirls Drill Team, demonstrations by reiners, barrel racers and other modern-day cowboys and cowgirls. Also cowboy and cowgirl activities for kids.

 

Nu Balance Vaulters – 8 p.m. daily

 

Fun on Horseback – 5 p.m. daily.

Thoroughbred, jumpers, drill teams, miniature horses, canine agility demonstrations

 

California Cowgirls– 8 p.m. July 14-15, 21-22, 28-29.

Fast and fancy horses, breathtaking maneuvers and glamorous outfits! The California Cowgirls carry rippling American flags and ride American Paints, Appaloosas and Quarter Horses in complex routines at top speed. The show celebrates a love for Western traditions, people, and horses.

 

Carousel of Breeds – 7 p.m. daily.

Riders demonstrate what their horse breed is best known for, while dressed in appropriate attire and using appropriate tack.
